Good afternoon! It is my pleasure to inform you that the Post passed the Health Department inspections of the kitchen and bar today. I am waiting on an invoice to pay the inspection fees and then we will receive a license and be legal to operate the kitchen.
I also turned in the alcohol license application to the State. It passed the initial review for completeness. I was told it will take up to 2 weeks for processing and we might have to have an onsite inspection of the bar by alcohol beverage personnel. A reasonable guess is 3 to 5 weeks to have the actual license as long as they do not find any issues per the lady who took the application.
On Tuesday this week, Wes and Stan met with the CPA firm’s attorney about our tax exempt status. The lawyer expects to have the tax exempt status restored by May 15th, 2026. There is still an issue with us not being able to locate any finance records from 2016. We do not even know what bank the Post was using then. The CPA firm is going to request the rejected 990 from 2016 from the IRS so we can prepare a new 990 for 2016.
When the Post left the South Sanford Avenue facility, some members agreed to store records for the Post at home. If you have any Post records or equipment in storage, please let me know so I can make arrangements to move it back to the Post. We are especially interested in locating 4 M-1 rifles that were issued to the Post for an honor guard.
Things are definitely moving in the right direction. Coffee and Chat is continuing to grow on Fridays from 9am to 12pm. Stop by and see your new Post.
I keep fielding questions about a Grand Opening. We will conduct a Grand Opening once we have the Alcohol License. But we will do a soft opening first to ensure we do not have any major issues to resolve. Dates will be announces at a later time.
